THE FENCE
White clouds falling silently to the ground
As a dense veil before the sun
Your words are said with a pleasant voice
But all I can hear is noise
Skip all the endless pleasantries
They're hollow and absurd
I'm trying to get through to you
But I'm not sure what you heard
We're stuck on different sides of the old fence
Can barely see your silhouette
Through this slatted fence
Each and every word is said
But it is all in vain
Forever divided by this fence
Our thoughts interfered by our flashing palms
Only to keep us calm
The time was now, but it's gone away
The end of another day
Skip all the endless pleasantries
They're hollow and absurd
I'm trying to get through to you
But I'm not sure what you heard
We're stuck on different sides of the old fence
Can barely see your silhouette
Through this slatted fence
Each and every word is said
But it is all in vain
Forever divided by this fence
